Garage Sale

Ok, for many years, as long as I can remember, my family has had garage sales to "eleminate crap" from our lives and hopefully make a little cash for something. My mom and I atually went to London on the money we made once....for 8 days!

Well this week I have spent endless hours sorting, pricing and displaying my crap to let someone else come in, mess it up and bargin me down with their prices. You know it was a great first day of a two day sale.

Mostly because of Christmas. WE sold a BUNCH of pink plastic items for other folks to take home and make their children thrilled with Christmas. Giving. No I did not "give it away" totally, but one lady "barginned" a HUGE box of toys and clothes and she will take them to her family in Mexico. I felt great cutting my prices in thirds for her.

So, next time you have a bunch of junk to throw away. Stick a card table up in the yard and sell it a quarter at a time, or box it up and give it to your church or charity thrift store. Familys need our good gently used items for their families. It is Giving. And for me, it was receiving a little money, yes, but more it was making someones Christmas complete.

READING IS FUN!

Last night I hosted my final book group gathering here in San Antonio. Our group has been together for about a year now and have read so many interesting books....Running W/Scissors, The Sea, The Female Brain, Devil in the White City, Wicked, Molokai, A Thousand Splendid Suns and others. Some good, some not so good. But more importantly to me, I have gotten to know some really interesting, talented, intelligent women, not to mention that they are fun, funny and great cooks! With my move I will miss this friendship so very much. I will miss our in depth discussions and our not so in depth ones also. I will miss the good food and wine. I hope to be informed of what they continue to read in case I do just fly in for a group meeting! I know, Express Jet is cheap!!! So ladies, a heart felt thanks for the memories and I will think of you often as my newest "White Elephant" book will sit on my coffee table. KEEP READING!

Kids Will Be Kids!

After spending a good hour concentrating, gooing and gluing candy and icing to their darling gingerbread houses, these kids from 4-4th grade posed for a "silly photo". Then they played "redlight-greenlight" and ran and squealed with boys chasing girls. It was a great time. Addison & Campbell were thrilled to have their friends over to celebrate the up coming holidays and make gingerbread houses and to get to play, play, play. Thanks for coming everyone!!

FRIENDS FOREVER

A grateful thanks for a lovely TEXAS STYLE send off. What a fun time. We punch pinatas and sat by the fire in December....OUTSIDE! Got to love the Texas weather. It will be missed, but not as much as our friends. We have really treasure the newest friendships made and the longtime old friends that have sustained many years. We look forward to the new chapter in our lives with great excitement, anticipation and a small amount of fear. Mostly, sadness that we will be able to simply go sit by a fire in your back yards, have a delicious Texas tamale and share stories, laughs and fun times.

We will look forward to future beach bashes, 4Th of July parades in Leakey and maybe even a ski trip together down the road. We are also counting on your trips to visit Tulsa, the area lakes and parks and treasures OK has to offer. We have lots of space for friends to stay, kids galore and new memories we can make together in Tulsa.

There are not words to say thanks to our dear friends for the special send off. It is so very appreciated and the memory box, cookbooks and TX & OK goodies will be fun to share with our new friends. For everything, thanks .....We love you guys!

Agape Love

This past weekend, my heart was filled with Agape Love. My dear friends gathered with me to celebrate our love for one another and our treasured friendships. WE ate, laughed and shed a couple tears. It was just the greatest Joy to be together. They blessed me with a beautiful evening of fellowship and left me with a lovely "memory book" to remind me on my journey how very much I am loved. Mixed blessing of course because of leaving San Antonio. But, God's hand will guide me and their prayers will sustain me throughout the days and months ahead. I can't say thanks in words to everyone who was here and here in spirit. It was a FABULOUS send off. I love you all!
